its sunday, but unlike another sundays, i stayed back in my room except for going to the church.its my first visit to a church in mumbai. Gloriya church in Byculla. the church is a marvellous structure, buit by the british more than a century ago.
now, what took me so long to write my diary again!?its really hard to find some personal time to write something here...
we had gone to Haji Ali dargha last sunday.its a sufi religious shrine. heard that sufi ali was a great saint of the sufis. the shrine is surrounded by sea on all sides. there is just a concrete walkway to the shrine from mainland. there was beautiful music floating around the dargha. i suppose that was kawwali...
from the darga we went to Mahalakshmi temple nearby. the crowd was so heavy that most of the time was spend in queue.
some one had told us that ther is a fort at Worli. so we thpught to visit it aswell.."let us make it a great tour".. was the motto that guided us! we hired a taxi from near the temple and went to worli. but we were desperate to see a slum, where we had thought the mighty fort would be standing. actually, we could see some remains of what was once a fort.but the houses were constructed on and over the fort in due course of time, and no one bothered about the fort!
our next destination was bandra. just loitered here and there counting the colours of mumbai(hope u know what i mean..lol!!) before moving to vile parle to buy some FM Radios. mumbai have around 6 FM channels with non stop music and fun. we could get FM receivers for as low a price as 40 bucks, but what guided me was the age old maxim- high price-high quality! and i found myself going back with an FM receiver worth 150 bucks, which had 'PHILIPS' written on it. god alone knows whether its original!!
day before yesterday was a holiday because of bakrid. we saw 'KiSNa'. not much of a good film!
the entire day today was spent with drawing sheet and pencil.i am glad that finally the 'bilge strainer' is complete!
during the last week i had played football a couple of times, and i find that i have a long long way to go before even saying that i can play decent football.
the marine workshop is also getting interesting day by day. there is lot and lot of new things to study in the navy dockyard, but if only we take genuine interest and keep on asking qustions.
an unforgettable event is my visit to the subamarine. its a wonder how we got the permission - that too for just 2 of us - sid n me! for the first time i saw how the interior of a sub looks like.
there might be more things that should have come on these pages, but nothing is coming to my pen tips right now. its almost time for fall-in. gotta get ready....
